Department of Semiconductor and Optoelectronics Devices is a unit of the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, Computer and Control Engineering of the
Technical University of Lodz. The Department's research activities cover optoelectronic, micro- and nano-electronic technologies, modelling and analysis
of electrical and thermal phenomena in semiconductor devices, as well as designing and manufacturing of semiconductor devices. The main fields of the research
interest are power semiconductor devices, high temperature electronics with emphasis on SiC technology, solar cells, integrated intelligent systems and photonic
systems. Teaching activities are related to semiconductor devices, electronics, microelectronic technology, optoelectronics and computer science.
Teaching
and research activities are conducted in the Department's laboratories that cover inter alia the Education Centre of Microtechnology comprising clean room
facility and Laboratory of Optical Waveguides Technology under the patronage of Corning Cable Systems Polska. Computer laboratories that are based on multiprocessor
SUN FIRE servers are equipped with CAD and CAE software containing various self-made and commercial programs such as MATLAB, TCAD-SENTAURUS, ALTIUM DESIGNER, SPICE,
ANSYS or CADANCE. The Department can boast of taking care of Apple Authorised Training Centre, where despite of regular trainings, the elective courses "Mobile Apple
Technologies" are conducted.
